It is time for another Etsy Top seller interview. Did you ever wanted to make a cute amigurumi, but really really small? Today I will introduce Anastasia from Moscow, Russia. She is the founder of the NansyOops Etsy shop, where you can find the most adorable tiny little amigurumis.
Anastasia’s journey to amigurumi began in 2015, and today she already has a broad audience of fans. Her patterns are for those who love the unusual and magical design.
The NansyOops shop has 16 amigurumi patterns that vary in sizes from big (20cm) to small 6 – 10cm, amigurumis smaller than 6 cm, and micro amigurumis.
Sometimes she uses embroidery, tinting, and felting in her patterns. These additions give the toys an individuality and distinguish them from other amigurumis.
Anastasia says that everyone asks her if she uses magnifying glasses to create miniatures, but since she has myopia, she doesn’t need to. In everyday life, she wears contact lenses and does not experience any inconvenience.
I am sure you will love all of them too. But don’t worry, Anastasia was so kind to offer a 25% discount to my readers. Here is the code: “ILC25,” but it is only valid until September 20th, so make sure you take advantage of this great deal.
Anastasia is married and her husband fully supports her hobby, which has become a job. Get to know Anastasia better, and read the interview below:
1. How did it all begin? Tell us your story.
Everything started when I once needed a gift for my cousin.
I just didn’t know what to give her for her birthday! Then I saw some cute Amigurumi and fell in love! Right away, I bought some yarn and remembered everything my grandma had taught me about crocheting, crocheted my first toy – a bunny.
I like thinking up something new, and I tested my new design by making a second and third bunny. After a few months, I wrote my first pattern.
Then this became somewhat boring, and I decided to use the thinnest yarn I had at hand, which yielded a teddy of 3.5 cm (1.4 inches). Now I thought – why not just use embroidery floss? It is very thin and comes in a wide range of colors! BOOM! Now I had a teddy of just 15 mm (0.6 inches)!
When I showed off this teddy on Instagram, this went viral! Everybody wanted to know how it could even be possible to crochet such a tiny thing.
Which is actually way easier than it looks – you just practice, using smaller and smaller hooks, until you’ve arrived at the tiniest size. Currently, my most popular patterns are those of the “Micro” series.
You can complete a fingernail-sized amigurumi in an evening and save a lot on yarn expenses.
2. What inspires you?
I’m inspired by the wild, travel, and pets. I also love fairy tales and fantasy very much! For instance, my most popular crochet character, Dragon El’ ejin, was inspired by George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy series.
3. How does your every day look like?
I’m absolutely not a morning person – I very much love to sleep in! For this reason, my day starts at lunchtime. While I do try to fight this unhealthy schedule, inspiration visits me exclusively at night! I can crochet all night long, and notice only in the morning when the sun already rises!
4. What is your favorite yarn?
That would definitely be cotton embroidery floss! I’ve amassed an impressive collection in countless colors, which, by the way, fits into just one not-too-large box. Miniatures are extremely convenient!
5. Do you have any advice for other sellers?
Basic rules like finding your niche, proper marketing, smart promotion, and a caring attitude towards your customers – all these work well for selling handmade items, too. Exploring these topics on par with getting more advanced in your craft will result in exponential sales growth!
With all of this, don’t forget to reserve time for yourself, your family, and friends! Spending time with others gives you inspiration and often, a new perspective and useful ideas.
Wow, I love this! Just because Anastasia got bored, she created her own unique brand, and now everybody recognizes her patterns when they see it. This is such an inspirational story.
I love doing these interviews – you get to know so many different success stories and you really feel that everything is possible. If you want to read more, here is the link to more Etsy Bestseller interviews: Interviews.

Tell me, which of her amigurumi patterns will you make first? You can share it with me in the comments below.
Thank you.
Have a beautiful day, and enjoy crocheting.
As I am still learning crochet, my 1st pattern needs to be one of the larger teddies! I have bought a micro Koala and a beautiful little bear off Anastasia though. She is such a lovely lady ?
Thank you very much for your comment. I am so glad you like it too. If I were you, I would try to make a Koala pattern, but try to do it with bigger yarn and hook. I think it would be easier to do it a second time with a smaller hook because you will know the pattern already. Tell me how it goes.
Have a beautiful day, and enjoy crocheting.
