Free Easter crochet patterns – Top 14 egg covers

Easter is coming, that is why I handpicked super adorable crochet Easter free patterns. If you are looking for the last minute quick and easy crochet project to make, these 14 Easter egg covers are perfect.

Every year, as Easter approaches, people all over the world hardboil eggs and dye them in various colors.

Eggs were often associated with pagan festivals and celebrations of spring. They were symbolic of rebirth and new life, making them an appropriate part of the celebration of spring and the new life that comes after winter.

It was common for eggs to be decorated in conjunction with these spring festivals and then give them as gifts to friends and family. The symbolism of rebirth fits well with the spring holiday of Easter, as it is the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. The practice of decorating eggs and giving them as gifts was adopted by Christians and included in their Easter celebrations.Easter eggs

Easter eggs symbolize the empty tomb of Jesus, from which Jesus resurrected. Also, one ancient tradition was the staining of Easter eggs with the color red “in memory of the blood of Christ, shed as at that time of his crucifixion.”

Other sources maintain that the custom arose in western Europe during the Middle Ages as a result of the fact that Western Christians were prohibited from eating eggs during Lent, but were allowed to eat them when Easter arrived.

Painting the eggs isn’t the only way you can decorate them. For one, you can dress your eggs up. Sounds funny, but you can’t deny that the crochet eggs you’ll see below are absolutely adorable. No mess, no stress over the way the dye color turns out, just lots of fun making these sweet egg warmers.
