Fall Crochet Patterns – Crochet Afghan and Pillow Patterns

Happy Autumnal Equinox! (And for my readers in the Southern Hemisphere, Happy Vernal Equinox to you!)

In 2020, the autumnal equinox—also called the September equinox or Fall equinox – arrives on Tuesday, September 22. Fall begins in the Northern Hemisphere, and spring starts in the Southern Hemisphere.

On the two equinoxes, every year, the Sun shines directly on the Equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal.

The name equinox comes from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), and it means “equal night,” referring to the roughly 12-hour day and 12-hour night. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun is rising later now, and nightfall comes sooner. We’re enjoying the cooler days of almost-autumn. This ends with the December solstice when days start to grow longer and nights shorter.

Meanwhile, south of the Equator, spring is about to begin.

It is the summer’s great last heat,

It is the Fall’s first chill: They meet.

–Sarah Morgan Bryan Piatt

The Autumn Equinox is a meaningful time of year to honor the harvest, whether that be a “real” harvest of the things planted in your garden or the harvest of efforts and intentions for your life path that you set earlier in the year.Happy Harvest Crochet blanket and pillow pattern - Pretty Things By Katja

To think of the Equinoxes and Solstices in terms of life, the year is “born” on the winter solstice, matures at the spring equinox, and reaches the prime of life at the summer solstice. The autumnal equinox marks the descent into old age, and, finally, the moment of the winter solstice marks simultaneous death and rebirth, starting the cycle anew.

Autumn holds a spiritually unique place. Many misunderstand the mystery and decline that surrounds and follows the autumn equinox for darkness and evil, but in reality, it is about endings—a very natural thing. Every journey must find its end, and Fall is the bittersweet embodiment of this.

Pay attention to what nature is doing around you—after all, everything has a purpose, including the changing of the seasons. They remind us to keep changing, not to allow ourselves to become stagnant.

On the Fall Equinox, you may want to honor all that you have in your life and shift your consciousness from one of lack to one of prosperity and gratitude in some way through a small ritual or ceremony. Such as lighting a candle, giving thanks, and speaking your appreciation for all that you are and all that you have.

Hello Fall Autumn Crochet Blanket

Like most of my patterns, this one also includes the C2C blanket and the Tapestry Crochet Pillow pattern.

Many people like the C2C technique better because it grows faster, and others like tapestry crochet better because you don’t have to sew in the ends. Every method has it’s own benefits. That is why I like to include both. To get to the pattern, click on the link or the photo below.Hello Fall Crochet blanket and pillow pattern
