It is time for a new Etsy best seller interview. Today I want to introduce Angel Doherty from Grove City, Ohio. She is the founder of the HookedbyAngel Etsy shop.

In her shop, you can find the cutest Cup cozies I have ever seen. There are 71 dog crochet patterns, 9 cat crochet patterns, and a few seasonal patterns. If you are not that good in crocheting or don’t have time, you can even buy finished cup cozies. She said that her love of dogs and yarn had inspired her designs.

Angel’s dog cozies are so adorable; you fall in love with them right away. I can imagine that drinking coffee with a cozy like that can brighten up your whole day. There are so many different breeds, from Golden retriever to Goldendoodle, to Boxer, to Schnauzer, Doberman, to Yorkie, and many many more. I am sure you can find your favorite dog breed in the HookedbyAngel shop.French Buldog Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

To make it even easier for you to make these sweet cup cozies, you can also buy plastic eyes, noses, and Ice Eyelash Furry Yarns in Angel’s shop.

If you want a fun and professional look for a gift or sell your finished cozies, you can find printable templates in HookedbyAngel shop too. You simply print and cut them.Dog Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

I usually ask the designers to share something personal about themselves, so that I can include it in the introduction. This is what Angel said: “My husband and I are empty-nesters. We’ve raised 3 amazing sons that we are beyond proud of. When they went off to college we got our first dog who quickly became our 4th son! You will see Remy on my social media often. He is my furry associate and I’m pretty sure he has more fans than I do! I’m an introvert and an avid walker. I walk 4 miles most days and always stop to pet dogs I see along the way.”

Read the interview below to get to know Angel a little better.

1. How did it all begin? Tell us your story.

My crochet business started with one special gift I made for my parents that resembled their dog they truly loved. My mom’s reaction to it was so special, she even gave it a kiss.

After sharing a picture of that cozy and a few other breeds I tried in several Facebook crochet groups I realized I had a unique talent to look at a photo of a dog and recreate it in yarn.

Each time I posted a new breed I would get wonderful comments and many requests to please, please write the crochet patterns so they could make them too.

I realized I was onto something special so, I hit the ground running. I did a deep dive learning everything related to having a crochet business and opening an Etsy shop!

At the time I was cleaning houses so I would listen to Podcasts for hours learning about how to write and release crochet patterns, branding, marketing, SEO, photography, and much more while cleaning, and then I would go home and implement everything I learned.

I currently have over 70 designs available and a thriving Etsy shop. I’ve never worked harder but it is so much fun it doesn’t feel like work at all.Cat Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

2. What inspires you?

I am inspired by other crocheters. It is such a creative, supportive, encouraging, and wonderful community. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.Pit Bull Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

3. How does your every day look like?

My crochet business is now my full-time job. I get to work from home every day with the cutest furry associate ever. There are many small daily tasks required while running a business. I schedule and keep track of them using a bullet journal. The bigger tasks depend on the time of the year. Right now I’m in the summer slump in sales so I’m working on new designs. This is my absolute favorite thing to do so I’m having a lot of fun. In a few weeks, I will begin creating stock for my busy season on Etsy and in less troubling times in-person events.Paw Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

4. What is your favorite yarn?

My favorite yarn is a mohair yarn I purchase from Ice Yarns in Turkey. When brushed it looks and feels like real fur which is perfect for my fluffy dog designs.Dog Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

5. Do you have any advice for other sellers?

My advice for other sellers is to not put off getting started. Learn as much as you can about your selling platform as you go. There are lots of free resources available to help you along the way.Border Collie Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern by HookedbyAngel

Wow, isn’t that such an inspiring story!? Angel went from house cleaner to having her own thriving business. That is amazing! It shows that you can learn and do everything when you put your mind to it.

That is why I love these Bestseller interviews; I always get so inspired. I hope you do too. For more inspiration, read the others here: Interviews.
